CSE EL/R - Real projects with real results

Have you wanted to get involved in undergraduate research, but just haven’t had the time in a busy schedule? Have you wanted to work on real development projects to solve real world problems, to help you get industry ready when you graduate, but are not sure how to get started?

If the answer to either of these questions is yes, we would like to let you know about a new opportunity in CSE - the Experiential Learning and Research track. EL/R is a new program in CSE that will let you engage in hands-on, real world projects related to departmental research and development. Starting in Fall 2023, we are introducing three new courses, CSE 302, CSE 303, and CSE 402. These classes will allow you to join a project across multiple semesters, gaining both degree credit and practical experience.

There will be many different project opportunities available. We will do our best to pair students with projects that you are interested in, but all of the options should provide the same type of opportunity. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the skills that the project lists; training in specific technologies, techniques, and approaches will be part of the experience - and if you stick with the project across multiple semesters, you will have the chance to both learn, apply your new skillset, and help train other students!
